Sorry for not posting in so long. I've been busy with my daughters Softball team stuff, and work. Her team has it's first regional game tonight. I hope they do well!

As far as crocheting.. I've finished the blanket for Val's soon to be baby. I made it in Simply Soft (as usual). I also made her a had and two bibs that match. I like to try not to have too much left over yarn in my stash. I will post pictures of this when I get a chance. Right now I'm working on my first attempt at a plaid baby blanket. So far it's going well. It's blue pink and off white. Using simply Soft (I love this stuff for baby blankets) I like the off white because to me it looks more like a pale yellow. I'll post pictures of that later also.

Last weekend a group of us went out on the 4-wheelers for a ride up to Bear Bluff and back. We had a fun time. This Saturday we are going on a club ride. I'm looking forward to that.

Cross bookmarks that I made using a pattern I found on line. I havn't crocheted in thread in somtime, but they still went quickly!

I decided to make a shawl yesterday. First one I've Made. Here is what I came up with. I think I may give this to one of my daughters mentors for confirmation. It only took me a few hours to make.

Here are some pictures of our horse, Doc. We've had him about a year now. He's an Arabian about 15-20 years old.

Here he is eating free food. Yummm!

We don't ride him much right now because he is recovering from an injury to his leg from a fall he took over the winter. He seems to be recovering quite well. We love him all the same!

Here he is posing for the shot. "Ya gotta take my profile.. This is my better side ya know." (Mostly horse crossed with a bit of ham for the camera) ok it's spring and he's shedding quite a bit, but what's better than a scruffy horse?

Drawstring Bag

Here is a picture of the little "Jewel box Drawstring Bag" that I made this morning.. I used Simply soft instead of using the Jewel Box yarn the pattern called for. In an e-mail from Crochet Partners I recieved a link to this pattern. I thought it would be cute to make one with the left over yarn from the yellow baby blanket. I'm not all that great at sewing on the face, but I gave it a shot. It worked up in less than an hour, and would make for a cute last min. Easter gift. I'm making another one right now! Yellow Blanket Done!

Ok.. I said I would post a Picture when I got done with the center section.. Well.. I got carried away and finished the whole thing over the weekend. Here is a picture of the finished blanket. I use the pattern from Leisure Arts Leaflet # 3015 The pattern is #1 "Snuggle Up"

Here is a close up of the stiches on the border.. there were about 14-15 border rows..

This blanket worked up nice an quickly. I think if I had the free time I could have finished it in 2 days, but it took longer due to working on it 15-20 min. at a sitting. Hope ya like it! I'm not sure who will get this one.. I have a few friends/family that is expecting at this time.

Yellow blanket

Well.. I have about 6 or 8 more rows of the center section on the yellow baby blanket. I've had more time to work on it while waiting for the kids to get done with softball and track the last few days.. when I get the center section done I will post a picture of the progress.

Crochet lessons at the Dentist office

Today while I was at the dentist office waiting for my daughter I was working on the yellow baby blanket I've been making. Along comes a lady kneeling along side of me.. she said I've Always wanted to learn how to crochet. So there we sat and I showed her how to do the stitches that I was doing on the blanket.. She did very well.. well enough that I don't think I'll frog what she did.. She finished 2 rows for me! I thought it was great. I showed someone how and still got work done on the blanket!!

I haven't had much time to crochet the past week. I've been busy with my oldest at softball and the other 2 kids are on the track team. Along with work. Last Saturday while I was a the local ATV Club meeting I was voted in as the new secretary of the club. Not what my plan was, but I'm glad to help out! So with that I've been working on the newsletter and making a mailing list etc. I don't have any new pictures for you at this time.. sorry.. I know we all like pictures! See you next time!

Another Baby Blanket

I found out that a friend is due to have a baby any day now. What is a girl to do.. Grab out some yarn from your stash and wip something up!!! This is what I came up with.. Your basic granny square! I did a few rows of chain loops in diffrent colors for the border and now I just have to weave in some ends and put a pretty bow on it and send it off. I used Simply Soft yarn in Light Green, Orchard, Light Yellow, Light pink, White, and Light Blue. I don't know if it will be a girl or boy. If it's a girl I may give her the lavender sweater that needs buttons that I posted a few days ago.

I had a few finished projects that I've kept pictures of that I thought some may like looking at. I wish there were more that I took pictures of in the past. Just so I had a record of them for myself.

Here is a cotton dish cloth I made. I have others too if anyone is interested in dish cloths.. I like to make these when I'm in between projects.

Here is a pot holder. it was my first attempt at using the afgan stitch in many years. I thought it was a bit slow going, but I did make 2 of them anyway.

This is a sweater and hat set that I made up with the left over yarn from the blanket I made for the sister in laws baby. I was impressed by how well the buttons match the yarn color.

Here is a lavender sweater that needs buttons.. I don't have a home for it yet, but nice to keep some things on hand.. You never know when that baby may want out!

This is a pot holder that I made with some left over Red Heart yarn.. I'd give you the pattern, but I didn't use one.. Just 2 circles with a single stitch holding them together and a small loop of ch st. It's made in a tan color yarn with off white border.

Below is a baby blanket I made for my friend Angie's baby boy.. The pattern was on the lable of yarn.. I think it was Lion Brand Pound of Love.

Another sweater and Hat set.. I don't care for the ties at the neck but that's what they wanted me to make for them..

OH! here is one of the Booties that go with the set above

Here is a poncho that I made for a toddler.. again.. no pattern, sorry. Just 2 rectangels in straight ds then sewn together.

Well that's all for now.. I have to take my oldest to softball practice. I will let you know when I get more done on the yellow blanket that I don't seem to have the ambition for at this time.

I have had a few people ask what pattern I used for the sweater bonnet and booties that are pictured in last weeks post. It's a Leisure Arts Leaflet 460 "Baby Layettes to Knit and Crochet Book 2" I think the copyright is 1986.. There seems to be a bit of a coffee stain there. I still hope to get some pictures posted up here of some of the other work I've done. With work and the 3 kids I don't get too much time to spend updating my blog. I have not done much on the yellow blanket over the weekend, but will keep you informed of it's progress. I will post more later.. It was a busy weekend.

Welcome back!!

Today is a busy day.. I took my son to the Dr for his check up for school sports.. Every thing is good there. I didn't get much done done the yellow blanket. In fact I haven't touched it other than putting it away after taking the picture from yesterday.. I'll show you a close up of the stitches on that cuz we all like pictures..

Here is a picture of a baby sweater and bonnet I did a while back.. It is made in Simply Soft Light Green.. I will post what pattern it's from later if you'd like.. I use this pattern quite often.

Like I said.. I use this pattern a lot.. Here is a bonnet and bootie set in Simply Soft Light Pink...

Here is a baby hat in Simply Soft Orchard.. I use this pattern a lot for baby boy hats mostly, but at you can see this one was for a girl.. It's from a pattern that I have in my head somewhere.. I could have been on paper at one time, but I don't know where! I have also managed to come up with a pattern for a skull cap on my own.. Does that make me a designer??? I should stop one of my kids and get a picture of one of them with one of the hats on.

Have you noticed that I seem to like to work with Simply Soft yarn for my baby items... HHmmmm I just did. Anyway... I will continue to post picture of past items as I find them.. I know I have more somewhere, just need to spend the time looking for them.

Well hello there! Welcome to by new blog..

I'm Kat.. and I enjoy crocheting.. I've been at it from the time I was about 8 years old.. Mostly self taught.

Here is a baby blanket that I finished 2 days ago for by sister-in-law's soon to be baby boy. I used the pattern from the Oct 2005 crochet World Magazine.. I changed the border a bit, but other than that it was straight from the pattern. I used Simply Soft in Light Sage and Off White for this one.

This morning I started working on another baby blanket for another soon to be baby.. I'm not sure yet who will get this one.. I have another sister-in-law expecting along with a niece. This one is from leisure Arts Absolutely gorgeous Baby afghans, The pattern is called "snuggle up" It seems to be going along well so far. For this one I'm using Red heart Baby Econo in Baby Yellow.

I will post more later as I'm at work right now and have things I "should" be doing!
